Much needed support from Rapid Relief Team

We’re saying a huge thank you to the Rapid Relief Team (RRT) who have stepped up to support all we do in so many ways.

RRT have been working with our teams in so many ways over the past 6 months. From Onesie Day fundraising BBQ's, feeding and supporting our crews after the mass casualty training exercise in Owhiro Bay to an incredible donation of $10,000, it's been a remarkable time working with them.

Wellington Free Ambulance Chief Executive Mike Grant explains that it’s this sort support that helps keep all areas of the organisation running smoothly all year round.

“Without the generosity of RRT and so many others, it just wouldn’t be possible for us to be everywhere we need to be, doing the things we need to do and enabling us to continue to provide the best possible care – wherever we need to go,” Mike says.

RRT is a volunteer and not-for-profit organisation that has a global presence.

They are also ready to help when local communities are impacted by things like natural disasters or major incidents.

The safe, efficient and effective RRT support has provided assistance in New Zealand and beyond – RRT mobilized to support emergency services who were called in to help with the Christchurch earthquake in 2011.

Ryan Power, Regional Team Leader for the Lower North Island, says RRT work closely with emergency services to support them in their efforts as well as provide food and assistance to those directly affected in anyway.

“It’s important to support our colleagues at Wellington Free. They’re usually the first ones who are called and give 110 per cent regardless of who needs help or what time it is,” Ryan says.

“We’re privileged to stand alongside Wellington Free and support them when their qualified and experienced staff are busy helping the Greater Wellington and Wairarapa communities.”
