As of 23:59 on Sunday 14 February, the whole of New Zealand, excluding Auckland, will move to COVID-19 Alert Level 2.
As of 23:59 on Sunday 14 February, the whole of New Zealand, excluding Auckland, will move to COVID-19 Alert Level 2.
Auckland will be moving to Alert Level 3 after three community cases of COVID-19 were identified in the region.
Life at Alert Level 2 means we can resume many of our everyday activities – but we have to do so safely. It is not life as normal, some restrictions and other measures remain in place to reduce the risk of transmission.
Please be aware our crews may arrive wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and will ask if anyone in your household has been unwell with cold or ‘flu like symptoms recently. Where appropriate our crews will ask you to perform hand hygiene and wear a surgical mask.

Important things to remember at Alert Level 2:
- You can still continue to go to work and school, with physical distancing.
- Wear masks if you can in public.
- No more than 100 people at gatherings, including weddings, birthdays, funerals and tangihanga.
- Businesses can open to the public if they are following public health guidance, which include physical distancing and record keeping.
- People at higher risk of severe illness from COVID-19, for example those with underlying medical conditions and old people are encouraged to take additional precautions when leaving home.
- Practice good hygiene - stay home if sick.
