Evie says the photoshoot was very exciting. “The lights were very bright and my cheeks hurt from smiling but it was really fun and I got to eat chocolate.”

Onesie Day is great, she says. “Onesies are really fluffy and I get to look cute,  I like helping with fundraising and going out collecting because the money will help paramedics save lives.”

Evie says she’s never been in an ambulance before but they had helped her dad when he was sick.

“It’s important that we have a free ambulance service, because some people can’t afford ambulances and could die if they don’t call because they are worried about money,” Evie says.

Newtown School, where Evie is a pupil, has supported Onesie Day for the last few years and are showing their support again this year.

“It’s so much fun wearing a onesie at school and seeing all my friends and teachers in onesies.”

“All we have to do is bring a gold coin to make a difference,” Evie says.

Newtown School principal Mark says the school is involved in projects like this and other worthy causes, because it shows that we, as part of the community, care.

“We support Onesie Day so we can contribute to those who care for us.”

Evie recently donned a onesie to help us promote this year's Onesie Day. Keep an eye out for this year's posters around Wellington and the Wairarapa very soon.

Onesie Day 2021 is happening from 2-4 September. With your support, we can help keep the ‘free’ in Wellington Free Ambulance and raise enough to purchase a special Onesie Day branded ambulance that is fundraised by the community for the community. For more information, please go to www.onesieday.co.nz.
