Mike and Richard Ponder, along with the team at Rona Gallery have opened the Ponder This exhibition - a fundraiser for Wellington Free Ambulance.

The duo have held exhibitions like this before but decided to support Wellington Free Ambulance as Richard had recently needed urgent medical attention.

In thanks, Mike and Richard decided to donate a portion of all artwork sales to keeping Wellington Free Ambulance free and available for everyone.

Wellington Free Ambulance Chief Executive Mike Grant was amazed at the calibre of the artwork on display and expressed his appreciation for Mike and Richard.

“We are proud to be here to serve our communities and we’re thankful for the support that keeps us here and on the road, ready to help whenever someone calls 111,” Mike said.

“Everyone supporting us isn’t just supporting us to be there when we are needed, you’re helping us build a better health system, a better way of working.”

Speaking about both Mike and Richard, as well as the exhibition, Mike referred to the Māori proverb: He toi whakairohe mana tangata.

Where there is artistic excellence, there is human dignity. Both Mike and Richard are phenomenal artists and their passion shines through in this exhibition.”

The exhibition is being held at the Muritai Road gallery in Eastbourne from 15-24 November and is open from 10am to 4pm.
